M.I.A.

Last night I took Blu for her usual walk outside for her to do her business.  We weren't outside no more than 10 minutes.  On our way back (we walked 2 blocks from home) we see a flood of people pouring out of one of the restaurants screaming a little girl's name.  Apparently the group was having a private party and the little girl ended up missing.  So Blu and I of course wanted to help and walked all over the West End looking for two little blonde girls ages 6 and 8 named Mckinzie and Gracie.  The parents thought they might have gone with one of the girls' little friends but called the police anyways.  As we walked we could hear faint cries and hollers for these little girls and I feared the worst.  Blu and I walked all over from the courthouse down to the highways, behind dumpsters, and in doorways.  I just couldn't just go inside.  But after an hour and a half, I decided to take Blu inside.  Tried to watch the news and look online this morning but couldn't find anything.  I can only hope this means they girls were found safe with their friend.  Guess I'll never know...

So that was my evening.  It was a very weird and scary experience.  Mom yelled at me for going in some of the places I went but I can only hope that if the shoes were reversed that some stranger would go look for one of my nephews...even if they don't find them.  Again, I can only pray they are safe.

My nephew the forger...

Apparently we have a forger in the family.  My 7 year old nephew decided to turn his mother's 3$ check into a 23$ check in order to get more change from his present purchase at school.  That's the only reason I can think of since the present he was buying was for a lady he "forgot" in the first round of shopping.  Not only did he change the number (that would be too easy) he also wrote "twenty" in front of the three on the writing line.  To top it off, he wrote a note with it saying "this is Brooks' mom and he can buy anything he wants".  Is it wrong that I'm impressed with his thoroughness?  I mean this kid thought of everything.. except the penmanship discrepency of course.  I'm a little disppointed in his action and probably should be more than a little by hey, he's not my kid.  Not my problem.  I'll end up having to deal with shoplifting, not forgery.  Jenn, she'll have to deal with something like joy riding...
Anyways, Brooks I think will have to work off the money with chores.  Hopefully he will learn that forgery is wrong... sometimes.  This, unfortunately for him, is not one of those "sometimes" moments...

Fa la la la Lifetime

Dear The Lifetime Channel,
I have to give you  alot of credit this year.  As much as I watch your channel and love the Christmas movies you play, I have to say this year you have outdone yourself.  "The Twelve Men of Christmas" is by far the best idea you ever had.  For starters you set the scene in Montana, a place where the scenery was perfect.  I actually want to move there... for the obvious reasons.  You star Kristin Chenoweth who is such a doll and great actress.  She's so likeable you feel like she could be the next door neighbor you steal a cup of cornstarch from.  So good job there.  But I have to say thank you for casting for the firemen was superb. I didn't even notice if they could act or not. I mean come on.  Its not ever fair!  Ah!  So I, on behalf of all the women out there (and maybe a few men), I thank you.  You aren't the "Television for Women" channel for nothing.

Belated Thanksgiving Post

Had one of the best Thanksgivings in a long time.  Even though there wasn't much relaxing, we as a family has a blast.  I drove up on Wednesday (very late) and got to spend Thursday with the whole family.  This never happens with us since my brother and his family live 1.5hrs away, we usually celebrate the following day.  Sister's in laws are in town so we always see them on special occasions/holidays, etc.  But this year, Wendy's father and and new wife with to the east coast to be with her family so we got them all day.  It was so great.  I, like anyone else, love spending time with my family.  Not sure if its because I'm down here by myself and I feel sometimes like I'm missing out on their lives, or maybe its because we are all older and really enjoy each other's company.  We took pics of the kids for mom's christmas cards, played in the leaves, rode bikes, etc.  Needless to say I acted like a 7 yr old and was quite tired when everyone left.  Then on Friday, Dad and I went down to the farms and rode the combine with the farmers.  I absolutely LOVE going down there, brings up alot of childhood memories thats for sure.  But I just love it in general down there.  The only price tags people worry about is on combines and bushels of beans.  There's nothing fake, nothing pretentious.  Just good ole counry people trying to make a living.  Man, its so good to be reminded of what's important. Yes, you can find the importance of life anywhere, but for me, this place, these people, are live right.  No matter how long I live in a big city, those type of life lessions will never go away or forgotten.  Don't let the high heels fool you, I'm a country girl through and though.  Anyways, once we left the farms, I swung by to sit with my gramma.  She's almost 103 and kickin it like 1989.  I can go on and on about her but will hold off until a later day.  Then Saturday swung by the other gramma's house for a bit and then headed back to Dallas...only to spend Sunday in Arlington wedding dress shopping for the last time with my BFF Emily.  Blast as always.  After high speed travels to get the dog at the boarders by closing, I finally made it home on Sunday in time to chill for a couple hours and mentally prepare for facing the up and coming work week.

I just love the holidays.  Can't wait for the Christmas holiday events.  They sang it right, its the most wonderful time of the year!

Bubbles in the Bathtub

The parentals went to stay with my nephews the other night so my brother and his wife could to go Tulsa for a KISS concert.  While mom was giving the younger nephew a bath, she thought she "heard" something but dismissed it...until the aroma hit her nostrils. Of course she made a commotion about the smell, and with pride Dax giggled saying "I tooted and made bubbles".

I of course found this hilarious.

What a Relief

So one night this weekend, I nearly ran into a homeless man.  Not so random you might tell yourself right?  Well, this particular man was relieving himself, "aiming" behind a large planter outside my building.  Not that there are lots of grassy areas but there are a few trees or more private areas than in between a garage opening and an entry door.  I know he doesn't have a place to partake in such activities in privacy but I couldn't help but think he choice wasn't the best, especially since people were walking by so he kept stopping and walking back to his wheelchair...

I'm just glad Blu didn't want to go sniff his butt.. then we both would be in trouble...

Ralph and Edna

"The love story of Ralph and Edna.

Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have. Ralph and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital. One day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool. Ralph suddenly jumped into the deep end. He sank to the bottom of the pool and stayed there. Edna promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled him out. When the Head Nurse Director became aware of Edna's heroic act she immediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital, as she now considered her to be mentally stable. When she went to tell Edna the news she said, 'Edna, I have good news and bad news. The good news is you're being discharged, since you were able to rationally respond to a crisis by jumping in and saving the life of the person you love. I have concluded that your act displays sound mindedness. The bad news is, Ralph hung himself in the bathroom with his bathrobe belt right after you saved him. I am so sorry, but he's dead.' Edna replied, 'He didn't hang himself, I put him there to dry. How soon can I go home?'"

Forwards

I have a feeling alot of what I post will be some of my favorite email forwards.  I get alot.. mostly from mother dearest.  Some are moving, some are funny, and some aren't appropriate to post on the interest...  Thanks Mom  :)

Not the best Writer...

Was reminded just now as I deleted a post that I am a terrible writer.  I take way too many detours over the hills and thru the wood before I actaully make a point.  I'm apologizing now... in advance for my lack of decent editing.

MY FIRST BLOG...AGAIN

Yes, this is my second blog... my first one was called a "A cup of hot water and a cocoa bean" which I thought was quite clever. I got it from a email forward my mom had sent me a long time ago. But after a while of random blogging, I decided to get regular with my posts and thought starting fresh was a good idea. So here I am.

The name of my blog is one of my many nicknames... thanks Ems!

Not sure how "public" I plan to make this but figure I'll figure that out as I go!
