Had one of the best Thanksgivings in a long time. Even though there wasn't much relaxing, we as a family has a blast. I drove up on Wednesday (very late) and got to spend Thursday with the whole family. This never happens with us since my brother and his family live 1.5hrs away, we usually celebrate the following day. Sister's in laws are in town so we always see them on special occasions/holidays, etc. But this year, Wendy's father and and new wife with to the east coast to be with her family so we got them all day. It was so great. I, like anyone else, love spending time with my family. Not sure if its because I'm down here by myself and I feel sometimes like I'm missing out on their lives, or maybe its because we are all older and really enjoy each other's company. We took pics of the kids for mom's christmas cards, played in the leaves, rode bikes, etc. Needless to say I acted like a 7 yr old and was quite tired when everyone left. Then on Friday, Dad and I went down to the farms and rode the combine with the farmers. I absolutely LOVE going down there, brings up alot of childhood memories thats for sure. But I just love it in general down there. The only price tags people worry about is on combines and bushels of beans. There's nothing fake, nothing pretentious. Just good ole counry people trying to make a living. Man, its so good to be reminded of what's important. Yes, you can find the importance of life anywhere, but for me, this place, these people, are live right. No matter how long I live in a big city, those type of life lessions will never go away or forgotten. Don't let the high heels fool you, I'm a country girl through and though. Anyways, once we left the farms, I swung by to sit with my gramma. She's almost 103 and kickin it like 1989. I can go on and on about her but will hold off until a later day. Then Saturday swung by the other gramma's house for a bit and then headed back to Dallas...only to spend Sunday in Arlington wedding dress shopping for the last time with my BFF Emily. Blast as always. After high speed travels to get the dog at the boarders by closing, I finally made it home on Sunday in time to chill for a couple hours and mentally prepare for facing the up and coming work week.
I just love the holidays. Can't wait for the Christmas holiday events. They sang it right, its the most wonderful time of the year!
